Andrew Briton Reder, Sr. passed away on Saturday, August 11, 2018 with his wife by his side. He was 88 years old.
Andrew Briton Reder Sr. was born on July 26, 1930 in Lake Charles, Louisiana to Willie Reder Sr. and Thelma Marie Moultrie-Reder, he was one of seven children within their union. He was baptized at Evergreen Baptist Church under the pastorate of Rev. Dr. W.J. Moore. Andrew graduated from high school and went on serve in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict. He retired from Gulf States Utilities after 33 years of service in the engineering department.
Andrew leaves to cherish his memories, his wife of 64 years, Jessie Mae (Rougeau) Reder of Lake Charles; four daughters Deborah Ann Reder, Thelma Marie Reder, Patricia Mae Reder, Sandra M. Reder Ardoin (Lee Ardoin); one son Andrew Briton Reder,Jr (Letrice Marie Reder) of Lake Charles; sister Thelma Mackie Allison of Gonzales, LA; sister in-law Joyce Reder; brother in-law Harvey Gilliam; grand-children Melanie Batiste-Washington, Daniel Ray Martin, Jr., Tonisha Nicole Fortune, Daniel Wayne Batiste, Jr., Delilah Renee’ Martin, John Matthews Batiste, Andrew Lee Batiste, Amaya Irene Stevens, Christopher Lee Ardoin, and Corey Briton Reder; 13 great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and a host of nieces, nephews, and other family members and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents and three sisters Marietta Reder, Velma Gilliam, Robbie Dunaway; three brothers Bertel Reder, Sr., Willie Reder, Jr., and Ronald Reider.
His funeral service will be held at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday, August 18, 2018 at Noon. The Reverend Robert E. Campbell, Jr., Pastor will officiate. Burial will take place in Combre Memorial Park following the service. Visitation will be held at Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the start of the service.
