Cameron Blake Stevens, 20

January 31, 2001 - February 6, 2021

Cameron Blake Stevens “Cam” to most and “Papa Roo” to a few, was born to Eva Stevens Dobbins on January 31, 2001 in Lake Charles, La. At a young age, Cameron was baptized at Christian Baptist Church in Lake Charles, La. Through his upbringing and the spiritual leadership of his Grandparents and Great Grandmother, Cameron knew about and would often get in touch with his faith when he felt he needed to, rather it was by calling his Grandfather for prayer or asking for him to send pictures of the prayers his Great Grandmother had posted around her house.

Cameron attended Southwest Charter Academy in Lake Charles, La. where he was on the basketball team as well as other various organizations and clubs. Both his classmates and his teachers adored Cam for his sense of humor, his positive attitude and contagious spirit. His favorite teacher, who had a lasting impression on him was Travis “Chuckslug” Bolden, whom he’d always greet by saying, “Whoaa Mr. Bolden!” He would later go on to attend Parkview Christian School in Houston, TX where he was a graduate of the class of 2019.

Cameron worked various jobs but was most recently employed at Jiffy Lube where there too, he was loved by all of his co-workers. He became passionate in the field of apparel design. He had been working hard on his brand, just recently developed design logos for his labels “Donce” and “Obey”. He started the production on sample pieces that he’d showcase by self-promotion. His dreams & passions for what he created will live on through those he held close.

Cameron loved his entire family. He was extremely close with his mother whom he, like any good son, took care of, always looked out for and was very protective of. He, his mom, sister & brother were a unit. No matter the circumstances or the obstacles life sent them through, they always remained close and rode out every obstacle together. The perseverance it took to battle those challenges may have not been for or understood by some but as long as Eva, Cam, Cait & Bobby understood it, to them, that is all that mattered and all that will ever matter.

Cameron has joined his loved ones who have proceeded him in transition. His father, maybe not by blood but by all matters of the heart, Jeremy Chretien Sr. His prayer warrior of a Great Grand Mother, whom he affectionately called “Grand MawMaw” Edith Comeaux Stevens, and baby cousins Javen Jackson and Avia Jackson.

Cameron leaves to cherish all of his memories, his mother & step father Eva & Rod Dobbins of Houston, Tx. His Grandparents, Herbert and Yvonne Stevens. His honorary Grandparents, Willis and Sandra Chretien all of Lake Charles, La. Three siblings, Sister, Caitlynn “Caity” Stevens, brother Jeremy “Bobby” Chretien Jr. both of Houston, Tx. and brother, Eric Sam Jr. (Jada) of Lake Charles, La. Uncle, Herbert Stevens Jr (Ericka) of Lake Charles, La. Aunts Shannon Stevens and April Stevens both of Lake Charles, La. The Sam & Chretien families from Lake Charles, La. and the Buxton family from Houston, TX. A host of extended family and friends from Lake Charles & Houston, TX. Last but most certainly not least, his well-bonded, (who will forever represent the #LongLiveCam legacy) group of cousins made up of the Stevens & Chretien families.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, Feb. 13, 2020, from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. at Fondel Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb. 13, 2020, at the chapel. Burial will follow in Sacred Heart Cemetery.
