One of God’s Faithful Servants, De’Queta Lynn Matthews Candler was called home to take her rest on Monday, September 3, 2018 at approximately 12:19 PM at Ochsner Medical Center in New Orleans, LA.
She was born February 4, 1987. She is a 2005 graduate of Morgan City High School and a graduate of Grambling State University, where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology/Sociology and a Master’s Degree in Criminal Justice. She loved her “GSU-GramFam”.
She was a faithful and active member of Progressive Baptist Church in Lafayette, LA. She was baptized at an early age at New Zorah Baptist Church in Morgan City, LA. by Rev. Ezekiah Simmons. She accepted Christ at an early age and loved speaking about God’s goodness. Lynn also took pride in bringing her son Kaleb to Sunday service and was excited and looking forward to bringing his little brother Kameron as well.
She was employed at Louisiana Health Care Connection as a Transitional Coordinator.
Lynn was no stranger to the people who path she crossed. She loved her husband and sons so much. They were her world. She also loved her church family, work family and her neighbors. Her smile was contagious. If you ever went around her feeling low or down, she had a special way of uplifting you and making you smile.
She leaves to cherish her memories, her loving husband, college friend and sweetheart, Anthony Candler Jr., two beautiful sons, Kaleb and Kameron Candler; her loving parents; Mayor Eugene and Terri Foulcard of Franklin LA. (Len Bourgeois) her grandparents; Timothy and Joyce Matthews of Morgan City who help raised her, two sisters; Ashely (Marcel) Mack of Broussard, LA.; Amyrie Foulcard of Franklin, LA., one brother; Eugene (Bruh-Bruh) Foulcard Jr. of Franklin La., her loving Father-in-Law and Mother-in-Law; Anthony (Papa-T) and Nedra (Mama Ned) Candler Sr. of Jennings, LA; four sister-in-laws; Netanya Candler of Jennings, LA; Tiffany (Michael) Francis of Jennings, LA; Anquenette “Shelly” Candler of Dallas Tx; and Nastaccia Arceneaux of Jennings, LA. She loved all her uncles; Timothy Jr., Donald, Kerry, Daniel and John Matthews (whom she was so very close to and looked up to as ‘big brothers”) two nephews; Marley and Harley Mack, one unborn niece, Karli Lynn Mack; other nieces, nephews, relatives, co-workers, neighbors, and friends who she dearly loved.
She was preceded in death by her paternal grandparents and two uncles.
Her funeral service will be held on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, 11:00 AM at Progressive Baptist Church , 125 Gallian Street, Lafayette, La. 70501 with Reverend Llyod Joiner, Jr. Officiating. Visitation will be held from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Progressive Church Cemetery under the direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel.
