On Saturday, July 30, 1932 in the city of Welsh, Louisiana; was born to the Rev. Leo and Edna (Renee) King, Sr; a beautiful baby girl who they named Edmonia.
As a young girl, she enjoyed spending time with her mother cooking and preparing meals for the family. Raised in a Christian home; she accepted Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at an early age. She was baptized by Rev. She was educated in the Jeff Davis Parish School System.
Her unwavering faith in God was evident in her life. She had a true servants heart, as she served the Lord and her church willingly in love. Upon moving to Lake Charles with her family, she united with the Union Mission Baptist Church under the pastorship of her father, Rev. Leo King, Sr. As a member there she was known as a great and anointed song leader. She then united with the Hillcrest Baptist Church where she served under the pastorships of the Rev. Joe Ford, Rev. Earnest Ford and Rev. Allen Collins, Jr. As a member she served in the capacity of Deaconess, Mission President, Choir and Mother of the Church until her health began to fail. She was also a member of the Southwest Missionary Baptist Association; she was a faithful and dedicated member of the District Chorus and Mission Ministry.
Cherishing her memories are her children; Dorothy (Rodney) Cormier, Clifton Gene (Sandra) Ford, Doris Marie (Wilbert) Richard, Sr., Clifford James Ford, Sr. and Ellis(Teresa) Ford, Sr.; daughter-in-law Glenda Ford; brothers-in-law Rev. Earnest Ford, Sr., and Rev. Ezekiel Ford; sixteen grand-children, twenty one great-grandchildren, one great-great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins other relatives and friends.She was preceded in death by her parents; Rev. Leo King, Sr. and Mrs. Edna Renee King; her siblings, son Jimmy Ford, Jr., and grandsons Christopher Thomas and Rodriguez Roberts; great grandson Peyton Rolax.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, July 7, 2018 at the Messiah Missionary Baptist at 11 AM with the Rev. Allen Collins, Jr. officiating. Visitation will be held from 9 AM to 11 AM at Messiah Missionary Baptist
Burial will be in Perkins Cemetery, Westlake LA under the direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel.
