LAKE CHARLES - Joycelyn Marie Pitts-Jackson,51 passed away on Saturday, April 21, 2018.
Joycelyn Marie Pitts-Jackson was born in New Orleans, La., to Shirley and Clarence Pitts. She was raised in Opelousas, La., and graduated from Opelousas High in 1983, she attended LSU School of Law, Southern University, and graduated with a paralegal degree from Delta School of Business in Baton Rouge, La. She was a resident of Lake Charles for 20 years. Joyce gave birth to her first child JaTerra in September 1989. She later married Reginald Jackson Sr. in August 1996 and to that union Reginald Jackson Jr. in November 1997.
Joyce is a member of the Masonic Eastern Star-Harmony 13. Joyce was a faithful and active member of Saints Cathedral Church of God in Christ family, formerly under the leadership of the late Elder Ivanhoe Terry. Presently under the leadership of Elder Michael Cuba Jr.
She served as Voices of Vision Mass Choir president for 15 years. Joyce served on the Pastor's Aide Committee, Public Relations President, Heart for Hospitality, and was deemed honorary greeter and Honorary Deaconess. Joyce was an all-around loving person; one who celebrated special days for everyone around her. Joycelyn was the founder of "Big Faith Ministry" which lead to "Sing Child Sing" and the Lake Area Community "Nubian King and Nubian Queen Pageant".
Joyce leaves to morn her mother Shirley Turner (Henry aka Hunny), (husband) Reginald Jackson Sr, (Son) Reginald Jackson Jr of Lake Charles La. (Daughter) JaTerra Matthews of Dallas Tx. Siblings: Avery Pitts, Jacqueline Pitts-Jackson, Alfred Pitts, Vernon Pitts Sr. all of Opelousas, La; Kedrick Pitts (Lauren), Raymond Pitts Baton Rouge, LA (grandchild) Amariah Matthews, of Dallas, TX (Godchildren) Titiana Victorian and Madison McDonald, in-laws, and a host of nieces, nephews and love ones, church family and friends. Preceded in death by her father Clarence Pitts, (uncle) Ronald Pitts(Mary), (brother) Montreal Jackson(Tanisha), (aunt Donnie).
