Mr. Andrew Smith passed away on Friday, August 3, 2018 surrounded by his family. Andrew was born May 15, 1947 in Vidalia, LA. He was the fifth child of Andrew and Sarah Smith. He grew up in Vidalia, LA. and attended Concordia High School. Andrew moved to Lake Charles at an early age and has been a lifelong resident.

Andrew was a faithful member of Reeves Temple C.M.E. Church where he served as president of the trustee board. He and his best friend Ronald Charles also co-chaired the Music Ministry for the church, making CD's, DVD's and tapes of the services and music. He was also active in church functions, fundraisers, BBQ's, men’s day events, teas, church anniversary programs, parades, and gospel programs. He was employed at Lake Charles Alignment for many years and retired from Tom Aday's as Service Manager.

Andrew was an avid sports enthusiast. He loved all types of sports, especially football, baseball, and basketball. He was a retired member of the LHSAA where he was a basketball official for over 35 years. Andrew was also a member of the Member's Only Social Club.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Andrew and Sarah Smith; sister, Mrs. Beatrice Marshall; three brothers, Samuel, Larry, and Archie Smith.

Mr. Smith leaves to cherish his memories loving wife, Mrs.Cynthia Smith; one daughter, Mrs. Andrea ( Brandon) George of Lake Charles, LA., three sons, Paul Anthony (Rayma) Smith of Beaumont TX., Randall Starlard, and John (Rasheedah) Sam III both of Lake Charles La.; two sisters, Mrs. Sarah (Albert) Jones of Vidalia, LA., Mrs. Willie Mae Beasley of Ferriday, LA.; one brother, Reverend Sam Baker (Mary) Of Destrehan LA.; one sister-in-law, Mrs. Rolanda Smith of Staunton, VA. He also leaves six grandchildren who he adored, Lak`ken, Kedric, Alexus, Dallas, T.J., and Prince; one godchild, Stephanie Charles and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family, church family and friends.

A Celebration of his life will be held on Saturday, August 11, 2018 at Reeves Temple C.M.E Church, 1400 Winterhalter St., Lake Charles, LA 70601. Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to Noon. Funeral services will be held at Noon with Reverend Rodney Geyen officiating. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery under the direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel.
