Robert Charlie Schexnayder Sr., 82, was born on October 18, 1936, in Lake Charles, La., to Raphiel and Elizabeth (Brooks) Schexnayder. He was called home to glory on December 11, 2018.
He accepted Christ at an early age and was baptized, at the lifelong family church of Evergreen Missionary Baptist Church. He was a very active and dedicated member of the church, under the current leadership of Rev. Robert E. Campbell. He remained an active member until his health declined.
Charlie was employed by Vista, where he trained and became a pipe-fitter and operator. He continued working at Vista for 35 years until his retirement.
Robert Charlie was preceded in death by his wife, Mary June Schexnayder; parents, Raphiel and Elizabeth Schexnayder; two sisters, Marguerite (Moses) Jones, Zerline (George) Booker; two brothers, Raphiel and Lionel Schexnayder; two daughters, Karen Benita Schexnayder and Marguerite Elaina Schexnayder; two stepsons, Henry C. Green Sr. and Victor O. Green; and grandson, Robert Charlie Schexnayder III; and step-granddaughter Kayla Green.
Robert Charlie leaves in God’s care to cherish his memory two daughters, Sharon (Howard) Dunbar, Winnifred (Raymond) Villery; one son, Robert Charlie (Stephanie) Schexnayder Jr., all of Lake Charles, La.; six stepsons, Elmo (Sarah) Green, Michael W. Green, Oscar (Altha) Green, Bobby (Sandra) Green, of Lake Charles, La., Curtis Green of Houston, Texas, Robbie (Barbara) Green of Dallas, Texas; four stepdaughters, Diana Green Carter, Isabel Briscoe, both of Lake Charles, La., Alfredia (James) Bell of Jonesboro, La., Rochelle Green Hariston of Pearland, Texas; and one goddaughter, Jocelyn (Harold) Duhon; one godson, Moses Jones of Lake Charles, La.; one sister-in-law, Edmonia Schexnayder of Houston, Texas; and 53 grandchildren; 58 great-grandchildren; one great-great-granddaughter; and the last Robert Schexnayder Sr’s heir, Stephen Anthony (SJ) Schexnayder Jr.; and a host of nieces, nephews and friends.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 15, 2018, from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. in Evergreen Baptist Church. Funeral will be Saturday, December 15, 2018, at 11 a.m. in Evergreen Baptist Church. Burial in Combre Memorial Park under the direction of Fondel Memorial Chapel.
